May 16 & 17 - Spot On AAC Agility Trial
Peso gets his 2nd Masters Snooker Q and is now only 1 Q away from his ATChC!! What an amazing boy he is!!!! Peso also gets a Steeplechase Q.
Phe does her first ever Starters Gamble course and comes away with a Q.
Student Linda and her BC Lola get their first ever Q in Starters Gamble. Good job girls :)
May 9 & 10 - K9 Klubhouse AAC Trial
Baxter had a good weekend with some nice runs and came away with 2 Masters Gamble Q's and his Bronze Title for Gamble! (EXG Bronze)
Abbey had a few nice runs and comes away with a Masters Standard Q.
Ripley runs in his first Starters Gamble and gets the gamble but is short 1 point to Q. He does get the next Gamble Q and too sad that his handler pulled him off the tunnel in Jumpers missing that Q.
May 1st - Acton Agility's AAC Trial
Andrea, Peso and Phe were scheduled to head to Kingston for a weekend trial where Peso had 4 snooker runs to hopefully get his ATChC but thankfully Andrea checked out her email to find out the dome had fallen in a storm. Not to miss out on an agility day they headed west instead to Acton's trial for a day.
Phe did awesome coming away with her first Advanced Jumpers Q! This is one awesome little jumping girl :) Peso didn't get any Q's but had some really nice runs. Sadly there weren't any snooker courses for him to run.

2009 Canadian Agility Team Fundraisers!
Over the Edge Agility is very excited that our friend Tiffany Salmon and her border collie TNT Rio have been named to the 2009 Canadian Agility Team. They will be heading to Dornbirn, Austria this September to compete in the FCI World Championships. Rio is very special to us at OTEA as she is the mother of TNT Baxter and TNT Phoenix as well as the grandmother of TNT Ripley. We will all be cheering for our team and our friends.
In order to help the team travel to Austria, we are planning a few fundraisers throughout the summer to help Rio and the rest of her team. I hope you will support this amazing group of Canine and Human athletes that will be representing our Country.
Now you can show off your Canadian pride here at home and support the team by purchasing your very own Canada Flag ID Tag and lets face it, all dogs look good in red and white!
These gorgeous, high quality Canada Flag Tags (30mm X 20mm) come engraved with up to 3 lines of information - all for just $15!! You don't have a dog and you want to support the team anyway?!, these tags are also great for key chains and for use on back packs/suit case zippers.

Overdue Update
I know, I know...I have been a very BAD blogger this year! OTEA dogs and our students have actually been quite busy these past few months. We have also been very busy working on getting ready for the Ontario Regionals coming up next month.
Here are the long overdue brags:
April 4 & 5 - K9 Klubhouse AAC Agility Trial
A huge contingent of OTEA dogs/students head to K9 Klubhouse's first ever indoor agility trial. What a great venue and as always a great trial. The dogs did great and came home with some Q's.
Peso had a rocking weekend and came away with a Masters Standard Q, a Masters Gamble Q and 2 Steeplechase Q's!
Baxter had a good weekend really working hard. He also came away with a Masters Gamble Q and a really nice Advance Standard run.
Abbey had an amazing Masters Jumper run coming away with a Q and best run of the 16" dogs.
Phoenix ran 2 Advanced Jumpers runs and rocked. She had one bar down in the first run but otherwise was picture perfect on a very hard course! She is one smoking fast girl!!
Ripley had 2 Starter Jumpers runs and was a very good boy. He had a refusal in his first run and had a couple of bars in his second. We really think he is going to be a fast boy, he ran the one run in 6.5 yps!
OTEA Student: Michel and Roni had an amazing Steeplechase run (though didn't beat Peso ;)) and came away with a Q.
Mar 20 - Acton Agility's AAC Trial
Peso comes away with a Masters Jumper Q and a Steeplechase Q.
Mar 6 - Acton Agility's AAC Trial
Phoenix has a great Starters Jumper run and comes away with her 2nd Q moving her into Advanced.
Peso has a smoking Steeplechase run earning another Q.
Ripley debuts with his first Starters Jumper run. He did a great job but too bad for his handler ;)
Mar 1 - Royackers AAC Trial
Peso and Phe take in a one day trial at Royackers. Phe wows people and comes home with lots of compliments :) This is one great little agility dog.
Peso has a great day too coming away with a Masters Jumper Q and his first Masters Snooker Q!! Peso is now on countdown for his ATChC...only 2 more Snooker Q's to go!!!!!!

January Brags
Happy New Year to everyone! I know, I am actually posting that in Feb but since this is our Jan brags, I thought I better still say it. I have been a total slacker on the brags since Dec but promise to keep it up to date going forward :)
January started off great for the OTEA dogs. We took the whole gang to Acton Agility's AAC trial on New Years Day and almost every dog came away with a Q!
Andrea ran Phoenix in the Starters Jumpers. This was her 2nd time in the ring and they came away with their first AAC Q!! She is a smoking fast little girl and I was glad to be there to see her first Q.
Phoenix's Starters Jumper Q run:
Baxter had a pretty good day having a bar or 2 in most of his runs but running well. His final course was Advanced Jumpers where I spent the whole time telling him "easy" to get him to NOT try and bounce outrageous distances! It wasn't pretty but he got the Q!! I was soo proud of my boy.
Baxter's Advanced Jumpers Q run:
Peso also had a great day running really well. He came away with his first Q of the year in Masters Standard!
Peso's Masters Standard Q run:
Abbey was in FEO mode for most of the day. I had moved her up to 16" regulars FEO for the day to see how she did and to make my final decision about moving her back to regulars. Well, she gave me no doubt whatsoever about her abilities as she flew around the courses without taking one jump down. I am not sure how, but she is actually faster over the higher height! She made me run my butt off!! lol. I did take her down to 10" specials for her final run in Masters Jumpers and she came away with her first Q of 2009. She is now a Regular's dog so we will see how she does in March...
Abbey's Masters Jumper Q run:
Another highlight of the day was having both Chase and Owen run in Jumpers. Chase started off first in Starter's Jumpers with Andrea. He actually ran the course quite well but had a refusal so no Q. I think we may be seeing more of this team in 2009.
Owen was running in Advanced Jumpers and was only 1 dog away after Baxter's run. I didn't think that I could give him my best so hubby Rick stepped in and ran his first ever AAC agility course! I couldn't have been happier with both Rick and Owen. With just 1 little handling mistake, they almost got a Q!! Thanks Andrea for walking the course with Rick and helping him to know what to do. I think we may see more of the Rick/Owen team out there this year!
Royacker's AAC Agility Trial - January 18th
Andrea and her dogs headed to Royacker's in mid-Jan to have a day of agility. The dogs ran really well, Phoenix also got to run Advanced Jumpers FEO and had tons of compliments on how well she ran! She is already impressing people with her athletisism and speed! Watch out for this girl, she is good!
Peso had a good day too. He came away with another Q in his Masters Jumpers course.

Nov 28th - Acton Agility's AAC Trial
Andrea, Arlene and Shona head to Flamborough for Acton Agility's AAC Trial. It was a very exciting day as Miss Phoenix made her debut at just 18 months old! It was also our last agility trial on 2008.
Phe did her very first Starters Jumper class. She is an awesome little girl who rarely puts a paw wrong. It was amazing to see the border collie that came out in her on her first run! This pretty quiet girl squealed her whole way around, thought about breaking her start line (but didn't)...She came out of the ring with the same look as her brother Baxter, lol. It really was great though, I was so glad that I got to see her first run!
Phe's first Starters Jumper run:
Peso had a good day coming away with 2 Masters Gamble Q's and a Masters Standard Q! What a year this amazing boy has had!
Peso's Masters Standard Q run:
Baxter gets to play also after so much time off for training. He had a great day holding his start lines and getting all his weave entries which I couldn't be more proud of. He also comes away with a Masters Gamble Q.
Baxter's Master Gamble Q run:
Abbey's day started a little slow but she finished off the day with a great Masters Jumper run coming away with a Q. She was sooo close on her Masters Standard but bit the dust at the frame/tunnel discrimination :(

Owen has a really good weekend and comes away with his 2nd Starters Standard Q! It was a beautiful run, I am proud of the little guy!
Abbey ran for Tiffany again but had a bit of terrier brain for the weekend. She wishes to apologize to Grandma Tiff and hopes that she will not give up on her ;)
Superdog Central's Dock Diving/Disc Fun Match
Abbey actually jumps off the dock and gets a personal best jump of 4'8". Pretty good for a little terrier :) Sadly she earns the "shortest jump" award for the day, lol
Ripley makes it to the top 6 of the under 15' class ranked in 3rd place with a personal best jump of 9'8". In the final he has a 9' and 9'2" jump earning a 2nd place ribbon!

Aug 7 to 10 - AAC National Championships
Abbey & Shona head to Sussex, NB to compete in the AAC National Championships. Sussex was a beautiful place to hold the Nationals, the people were great, the weather held out and we had an awesome Lobster dinner on the Saturday.
Abbey started out on Friday with some awesome runs! First was Standard where she had a clean and fast run. She finished in 9th place for Standard 1. Her next round was Jumpers where again she had a clean run earning an 11th place finish (just 700th's of a second out of 10th place). Her final round was Steeplechase 1. She had a great, clean round earning herself 10th place, her 10th Q, her Masters Steeplechase Dog of Canada (MSCDC) Title and the right to go to round 2!! (a first for Abbey) Abbey finished her day in 9th place overall.
Saturday did not fair as well. Again it started with Standard where Abbey had 15 faults. Her next round was Gamble where she did ok in the opening but sadly did not get the gamble. She was eliminated from her Steeplechase round 2 but was having a smoking round at the time :( Abbey slipped into 11th place overall after day 2.
Sunday we started with Gamble. Abbey had a great opening earning 38 points with only trying the mini once! Again she missed the gamble :( Her final run was Jumpers, it had turned hot and Abbey just faltered coming away with 10 faults. Abbey finished 14th place overall in the 10" Specials Division.

July 19 - Dog Days of Scugog
The TNT boys head to Port Perry ON to compete in the Skyhoundz Disc Trial. Rick rocked with both Ripley and Baxter in the Distance and Accuracy class tying each other for 1st place! The boys had to do a tie-breaker where they had 1 chance to catch the longest throw. Ripley was first and had a beautiful catch just over the 40 yard line. Baxter was next and Rick let that disc rip, it was going great with Baxter tracking it perfect but then with the help of a soft wind, it went over the 60 yard mark and the fence!! Poor Baxter didn't get a chance to try and catch the disc.
So Ripley took home a beautiful gold medal and Baxter the silver. Pretty good being 1st and 2nd though out of a huge field of dogs.
Ripley also tried his paw in an official Dock Dogs competition. In the first wave he came in 4th place and earns his first Novice Q with a jump of 8'4". In the second wave he was pretty tired and had one bad throw of his toy from me so had a jump just under 6'. He came away with another Novice Q though, so overall he had a blast and did quite well for his first time. We will definitely look for more opportunities to play this game :)
OTEA Student Martin & Zipper also compete in the Skyhoundz Disc trial. This is their first disc trial and he does great! This is going to be another great disc dog :)

July 5 & 6 - OTEA's CDDA Disc Trial and Seminars
Shona, Rick, Ripley and Baxter headed east to Ottawa ON to host a CDDA Disc trial and the Katherine Ferger Seminar. The weekend was a scorcher to say the least but the trials ran smoothly and everyone had a great time. Katherine's seminars were awesome (Ripley learned lots in the Freestyle 101!)
Ripley came home with 1st place in Saturday's Furthest Catch competition with a catch of 164'1". He also gets 2 NSD Q's and a 2nd place in NSD on Sunday with a whopping 52 points! He also earns his Disc Dog (DD) Title for accumulating 100 points.
Baxter also has a great weekend. He comes away with 2 Advanced Single Disc Q's earning his Advanced Disc Dog (ADD) Title. He was 1st place in Sunday's Advanced Single Disc competition with a perfect 8 for 8 catches and an amazing total of 61 points!!!

Ontario Regional Championships
Well the OTEA dogs had a pretty good showing this past weekend at the Ontario Regionals held in Ilderton, ON. The weather was awesome, great volunteers, great competitors and the courses were challenging.
2008 Nationals Qualifiers: Abbey, Peso, Chase & Breeze!
Abbey had a great weekend coming in 7th place overall with a total of 439 points! She had clean runs in Standard 1 (earning 6th place) and Jumpers 2 (earning 7th place) and only had 5 faults in Standard 2 (earning 5th place) and Jumpers 1. She got a mini gamble each day but didn't get either of the main gambles (earning 6th place in both). She qualifies for Nationals and will be heading east to Sussex, NB in August! Abbey also earns her 9th Masters Steeplechase Q in the qualifier round on Friday and a 6th place ribbon but doesn't qualify for the money round. Maybe at Nationals?!
Peso has a great Sunday, recovering from a very tough Standard 1 on Saturday. He has an amazing Jumpers 2 round, running clean and fast, coming in 11th place in the 22" Regulars class! That is awesome work!! This amazing just turned 2 year old also qualifies for Nationals but unfortunately will not being heading east with Abbey :(
Baxter started with a great Gamble 1 round but unfortunately the final bar in the gamble came down missing out on the gamble points. He had a good (for him) Jumpers 2 round and not bad round in the Standard 2. He unfortunately didn't qualify for Nationals but did have a fun time and will be heading east with Abbey to at least play in the Steeplechase round :)
Baxter and Shona want to thank Andrea for being the BEST helper ever this past weekend! Andrea kept Baxter calm before going into the rings which in turn help Shona to remain calm too :) You're the best!
Ripley and Phoenix had a good time watching their respective mom's, Flare and Rio, compete in the jumpers rounds. They each got to practice a few jumps and lots of tugging (even with each other!) They are excited to be playing next year with the big boys.
OTEA Student Colleen & Chase have a great weekend and this young 2yr old boy also qualifies for Nationals! He even got the main gamble in Gamble 1. Colleen's other dog Breezie also qualifies for Nationals and earns a 4th place overall in the 22" Veterans division. Breeze also makes the Sasha's Blend Steeplechase finals and finishes 1st!! Great job Colleen with both your "kids" :) We are working on talking Colleen and hubby Ron into heading east with us in August for Nationals...I think that is a great idea ;)
I can't believe that we have been talking about the Regionals for months now and now it is over. Thank you to everyone that made the Regionals such a success!

OTEA Student Colleen and Chase also get their Starters Gamble Q and their Starters Team Q.
OTEA Student Michelle and Icis were competing in a CKC trial this past weekend. Icis was able to get her final Novice Agility Q (with a perfect 100 score!) earning their Novice Agility (AgN) title! Congrats!!

May 10 - Terrier Fun Day!
Saturday was Owen's day! Owen, along with dog siblings Abbey, Baxter and Ripley, head to Bewdley, ON for a Terrier Fun Day! The first event that Owen got to try was small dog racing. Thanks to Pat & Bob for lending us a muzzle. Owen took a few races to actually get the idea that you are suppose to race the other dogs to the end of the track. He preferred to chase the other dogs but really liked going through the end hole (though quite a tight squeeze for him!) He actually won his final race!!
The next event that Owen got to try, and I believe he just loved, was lure coursing. He took off after the lure and never let it out of his sight. He was running his heart out and just had the best time! I think this could be a sport that Owen would love to do more of.
Owen also got to do some go-to-ground work. Bob was the teacher at this station helping us get Owen to understand the job. At first he was just interested in the rat but eventually when he realized he was "allowed" to bark and go for it, he was in terrier heaven! lol. He actually got the hang of going through the tunnels and even moved on to a more advanced course. He had a bit of trouble getting his larger body through the longer course but still did well.
Abbey also did a bit of small dog racing but acted like it was much too uncivilized for her (imagine having a muzzle on!!) Abbey, Baxter and even Ripley got to do a bit of agility at the agility station. It was the first time this year out on grass and they all did well.

Apr 26 - Rat Pack AAC Agility Trial
Abbey, Baxter and Shona head west to do 1 day at the Rat Pack agility trial. Abbey comes away with another Steeplechase Q. Baxter had a good Gamble run but knocked the bar down in the main gamble :( Tiffany (his breeder) ran him in the Steeplechase class. It started out really good but after getting caught in the weaves, he was a bit thrown off and near the end came out looking for mom (what a baby!) I think they both had a good time playing together though :)
